Rachel finds out from her that Katie was healthy and discovered Katie's corpse disfigured in the closet. Katie's close friends inform Rachel about the legend surrounding the videotape that was cursed and Becca Katie's friend was confined after Katie's death. She also discovers Katie's boyfriend as well as two of her buddies were killed in bizarre accidents the same night around 10 pm. Rachel is taken to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she is in Cabin 12. After further investigation, Rachel discovers Anna had an adopted daughter named Samara and she had the ability to create disturbing images into the minds of humans, animals and objects. Rachel is forced to flee Anna's widower Richard when she begins asking questions about Samara.
